Moataz Metawee is a seasoned retail executive with over 27 years of experience driving growth, innovation, and success in the Egyptian banking and retail sectors. He holds a degree in Accounting from Cairo University (1997) and an MBA from the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport (2003).

Moataz began his career at Citi Bank, where he quickly rose through the ranks, showcasing exceptional leadership and operational expertise. Starting as a Branch Manager in 2004, he was promoted to Head of Liabilities in 2007 and later to Head of Operations in 2009. During this time, Moataz consistently delivered outstanding results, implementing operational efficiencies that boosted profitability and enhanced customer satisfaction. By 2014, he was appointed Country Business Lead and Senior Vice President of Consumer Banking, serving on the Consumer Management Committee and the Country Coordination Committee.

In 2015, Moataz joined the Commercial International Bank (CIB) as a Senior Director and member of the Retail Bank Senior Leadership Team. His leadership and ability to inspire and motivate teams were pivotal in driving CIB’s retail banking success.

By 2017, Moataz had joined Banque Misr as Head of Digital Payments, Fintechs, and E-Channels, where he leveraged his extensive retail expertise to develop and execute transformative strategies that captured significant market share. In this role, he emerged as a leader in digital innovation, playing a crucial role in modernizing the bank’s offerings to meet evolving customer demands.

Currently, Moataz serves as Head of the Retail Sector at Banque Misr. His exceptional leadership, strategic vision, and passion for retail have been instrumental in driving growth and ensuring the bank’s continued success in an increasingly competitive marketplace.

In addition to his professional achievements, Moataz is a dedicated contributor to the retail banking community. He serves as a board member for Rawasy Company for Portfolios and Investment Funds, where he continues to make an impact through his expertise and forward-thinking approach.
