Fawry inks cooperation protocol with World Bank to support women-led SMEs

The leading provider of e-payments and digital finance solutions will contribute to the World Bank’s We-Fi

20 July 2022 (Cairo, Egypt) – Within its efforts to support Small and Micro Enterprises (SMEs) run by women entrepreneurs in Egypt, Fawry has announced that it signed a cooperation protocol with the World Bank to take part in the E-commerce for Women-led SMEs project, which is fully financed by the Word Bank’s Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (We-Fi).

The agreement reflects Fawry’s constant approach of contributing to initiatives that support women entrepreneurs leading SMEs, especially those operating in the field of E-commerce. Out of keenness to help female entrepreneurs develop their businesses, the company empowers them to expand their enterprises and build technical knowledge, and even pushes them to enter new markets and export their products through E-commerce platforms. In this context, the leading provider of e-payments and digital finance solutions will provide women entrepreneurs with comprehensive expert knowledge and consultations in areas of online payment gateways (like Fawry’s), digital marketing, vision, exporting and shipping.

Moreover, Fawry will serve as the link between women entrepreneurs of SMEs and the World Bank to enable them to benefit from the advantages offered by the E-commerce for Women-led SMEs project, which is part of the Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (We-Fi).
The E-commerce for Women-led SMEs project has a variety of flexible support options for women entrepreneurs, as it aims to enable them to adapt to different challenges and overcome obstacles to growing their businesses, thus helping them to thrive.

“We are thrilled to enter a partnership with the World Bank to take part in implementing its development program and contribute to supporting and motivating women entrepreneur-owned E-commerce enterprises,” stated Eng. Hossam Ezz, Fawry’s Chief Commercial Officer – Enterprise Services. He added: “It’s one of Fawry’s priorities to support Egyptian women and encourage them to develop their own businesses, given their effective and critical role in all economic sectors. Woman is a key partner in achieving the sustainable economic development goals.”
